Crosley started making radios in the twenties and was one of the few manufacturers to survive the Great Depression – building radios, then cars and appliances. Being independently owned gave him an edge on the mass produced competition – who often played it safe, design wise, for investors. This radio employs every design element and trade secret in the book! The trendy floating butterfly legs elevate the clock radio off the surface for a futuristic appeal! This design is the very definition of symmetry – even the second hand is balanced – allowing for the only clock in the world where the second hand reading is interpretive! The shape of the radio employs the “golden mean” which is an ancient design measurement rooted in nature as the perfect proportion. This was used by the designers of the Parthenon and throughout history by the most knowledgeable and skilled artisans. The clock face features a “sunburst” motif – which had just started to trend in the fifties! Every facet of the design was light years ahead of the competition. The clock was both elegant but radically modern for the time period. It bridged the “old world” with its leatherette wrapping and brushed brass fittings with the mid century modern movement of weightlessness, minimalism and efficiency. Radio and clock both work! The leatherette is still soft and in excellent condition! The brass and clock face are in very good shape – still lustrous and sharp! The vacuum tube powered radio has a rich sound for such a compact design. Knobs on the side permit adjustment of tuning and volume. Knob features the “civil defense” symbols which were used during the cold war for people to turn to in case of attack or emergency. Please read full description.. Matching pair of mid century style 3 tier fiberglass lamp shades. They are alpine green and ivory with a gold atomic starburst pattern. The larger tiers measure 15 inches in diameter and are 5 inches tall and the top and bottom smaller tiers are 12 inches in diameter and 2.5 inches tall. 9 inch total height. All of the fiberglass and lacing is brand new. This sale is for the shades only not the lamps in the pictures. I added those pics so you could see what the shades look like when they’re lit up and mounted on a lamps. These shades look best using 8 inch harps. And will require assembly. They will come with everything needed to assemble the shade along with detailed instructions. Instructional videos can be found at the following link. VINTAGE TENSION POLE FLOOR LAMP SECTION. Three way lights with original green acrylic shades. Shades are all in great shape with no cracks or chips. Metal has no dings or cracks. Lamp dates to the 1950s / 60s. Piece is missing its bottom stabilizer piece (bottom is simply an open end) and top spring loaded pole. The piece in total measures 56 1/2″ tall (24″ of that being the removable black pole). Center bulb is working. Outer lamps are not working when switched over. Mid century modern floor lamp. I believe its from the 1970s era. Made of plastic with white plastic globe. The base & stand is a cream white & globe is white. Looks awesome displayed with other MCM decor! Im unsure who the maker is. Possibly made to be indoor/outdoor. Has a extra long heavy duty electrical cord. Lamp has a rubber push button On/Off switch. Base is weighted & quite heavy so it wont tip over easily. Fully tested & works great. On/Off switch works as it should. Electrical cord is in good working order. No cracks or chips to base or globe. Plastic shows light scratches/scuffs. Measures 56 tall & globe is 12 in diameter. I try my best to take several quality photos of all angles of the actual item you will be receiving. If there is any defects they will be mentioned & pictured. There is a good chance we can work it out. Once the item arrives to KY I have no control after that.
