Here’s a great 1950’s atomic style glass and metal lamp with it’s original nubby painted fiberglass two tier shade. This measures 26″ tall to the top of the shade finial, the lower tier of the fiberglass shade measures 15.5″ across. The shade is fantastic condition, the only thing I can fault it with is some old original glue residue at the seam (I believe this is factory glue) and it has some dust in the nooks and crannies. The top egg shaped hollow metal ball shows age appropriate surface tarnish and oxidation as does the metal base. These still display well as is or you might decide to paint these parts back to a chrome or gold finish. The glass part of the base is reverse painted in flecked pink, black, white and gold and is really striking! No damage to this portion or show of age because it is painted from the inside. The original cord is in fine condition and it works. It has a three way switch. This displays beautifully just as it is or jazz it up with some fresh shiny metallic paint on the metal parts to make it look like the day it was made! I generally do not entertain best offers until my items have been listed for over a week. 1950s Mid Century Modern table Lamps atomic fiberglass shades RARE matched pair
This listing is for an amazing pair of mid-century modern table lamps with original fiberglass atomic shades. The lamps are circa 1950s and despite some minor issues they are in overall beautiful, vintage condition. The lamps are approximately 18.5 to 19 inches tall with the shade on. The shade is approximately 10 inches across the top. This is a 3-way lamp. The base lights up, the top lights up, and you can have them both on at the same time to set the perfect mood. The main body of each lamp is made of glass with a metal mount on the bottom. The bodies appear to be in excellent condition with no cracks or breaks or chips. The fiberglass shades are also in excellent condition with no holes or cracks. There are a some light stains in a few spots but they can be turned to the back… And I have not attempted to remove them by cleaning. The metal bases have some oxidation as photos show. I tried to show the worst of the worst on one of the lamps. Both lamps have some of the oxidation in places. Again, I have not attempted to clean the oxidation but I would assume it will not come off. The lamps look beautiful as they are, but it would be simple to remove the bases and spray paint them if you want them to look perfect. The only other issue is that while the cords work and are not brittle, they are original and if I kept the lamps I would replace them. I didnt do that because some purists like to do that themselves. In addition, I would use a gold-colored cord while the originals are white. So I will let lucky winner choose the color for themselves. One of the cords was cut and a new piece was spliced in. Again, it works fine but I would replace it. The base of the lamps are lit with a common nightlight 4 or 5 watt bulb. In the end, I really like the green bulb best and that is what I took photos with and that is what lucky winner will receive. I will leave those in. They are very simple to take out and replace as you see fit. I could go on and on about this pair of fine lamps. They are so incredibly beautiful! To find one of these lamps in this condition is a great find. But to find a pair is a rare opportunity indeed! 1950s Atomic Mid Century Modern MOD Dutch Shape UFO Table Lamp MCM Vintage Retro. It doesn’t get more Mid Century Modern than this 1950s Rocket and UFO design. Made of a plaster or ceramic textured white material with three curved sides resting on round feet on a wooden base. The odds are you will never find another lamp like this. The photos really tell the tale of what this design looks like, it is very hard to describe. Works great and looks fantastic. Still has the vintage original shade. It shows minor signs of wear from the last 50 or so years. Stands about 39.5″ tall and 7″ wide at the base not counting the shade. (light bulb not included).
