The glossy plastic coated top features an oriental design – a popular 1950s subject. Table is sturdy and in excellent condition. Siamese Cat Table Lamp Vintage 1950s Atomic Age Mid Century Japan Eames Era MCM. Each one I’ve had is different. This one has a single siamese cat with blue rhinestone eyes that sparkle nicely. The cat is sitting in the classic “pretty kitty” pose. The vintage glaze on the cat has crazed over the years but gives it a nice patina and is very glossy. The weighted metal base has some minor scratches on it. It does not come with the lamp shade that is shown in some of the photos. It is only there to show you what it looks like with a shade. Size is 20″ tall and 4-1/4″ wide without shade. Boxes depending on size by request only. I have done my best to honestly and accurately describe and photograph this item. I respond to all emails. “TEAR OF SHAH JAHAN” CUSTOM MID CENTURY TEAK & BRASS TABLE LAMP! Tear – Shaped Cast Brass With Walnut Accent & Rice Paper Shade. HEIGHT: 24″ WIDTH:16″. This lamp was commissioned circa 1967 by an interior decorator for a gentleman and his custom interior decor in his Scottsdale desert estate! The work is titled “Tear of Shah Jahan” and is made of cast brass shaped as a single tear drop! The piece is a tribute to Shah Jahan, greatest of the Muhgal emperors! The Shah had ordered the creation of the Taj Mahal to serve as a living monument to his wife, Mumtaz Mahal! This lamp represents a single tear of Shah Jahan as he remembers the love of his life! Lit from above by a single socket the brass gleams with the luster of the sun! The lamp is crowned by an Indian rice-paper shade and a finial which echoes the shape of the dome on the Taj Mahal. Item: For your consideration we are presenting for sale a sweet vintage abstract / cubist seated figural table lamp. There are no labels or tags present – we are uncertain as to the maker. It’ll be left up to the purchaser to provide a shade of their own choosing, as there currently is none. This lamp will make a welcome addition to any modern interior setting! The lamp stands approx. 17 tall (measured from the bottom of the base to the top of the socket). The ceramic portion of the lamp is approx. 14.5″ tall x 9″ wide x 4 deep. The bottom of the base measures approx. 7.5″ wide x 4″ deep. Condition: The lamp is in great condition – there are no chips, cracks, breaks, scratches, repairs, etc. The electrical wiring appears to be original to the lamp – there are no frays, splits, exposed and/or brittle wires. METALLIC FINISH ROBBIE ORIGINAL! Mid – Twentieth Century New York Expressionism! DIMENSIONS: 49″ by 22″. In New York’s mid century halcyon days, there were a number of entrepreneurial and creative artists making a niche for their works! While some artists scored the NY gallery circuit with the right connections or benefactors, others tried a different tact, and worked with the sizable interior decorator community in Manhattan. These artists worked with decorators to give them exceptional deals on cutting edge artwork that made a statement and with imposing pieces scaled to the NY penthouse market! Two of the most successful were “Ran Su” and Robbie. Ran Su worked with woods and Robbie with metallic finishes for the utmost in rich, posh urban art. Robbie works all featured this (very unique at the time) metallic finish. Long before foil imprints started appearing in the 1980s, Robbie was making reflective paintings for Manhattan socialites and their penthouses! These works were incredible ground-breakers and the penthouses they adorned earned many “oohs and aahs” from admiring guests gazing upon these eye-catching works! Today, they are just as imposing, possibly more so, as the quality they exude is 1000x that found in most contemporary decorator pieces!
