Vintage 50s Brass UFO Saucer Planter Sconce Lamp Atomic Era Mid Century Modern
Item: For your consideration we are presenting for sale a rare killer vintage atomic era ufo saucer wall sconce and planter combo. Circa’50s /’60s. Materials: Metal, brass, wood. The shade is metal, and is painted black on the top, and white on the bottom. The light socket cup and planter are both brass, as well as the tubing connecting the two. The flush wall plate is wood. The shade, as well as the light socket up, each have perforations which allow light to shine out. Measurements: The entire fixture, measured from the bottom of the planter cup to the finial, measures approx. The light socket cup, and the planter cup, each measure approx. 4.75″ tall x 3.75″ in diameter. The shade has a 13.5 diameter. The rectangular wood wall support measures approx. 4″ wide x 8″ tall x 1 thick. Condition: Overall we’d say the fixture is in good condition given its age. It could benefit from a little tic as it does have some minor cosmetic issues that are worth mentioning. First being, the shade is slightly out of round. The metal appears to be fairly malleable, so it can most likely be finessed back into shape; we didn’t bother trying – it has been in left in the exact condition in which it was acquired. There are also a few small superficial scratch marks on the top side of the shade resulting in a tiny bit of color loss (see photos) – again, nothing major, but being mentioned for accuracy. The shade is a little loose, and could benefit from being tightened. The light socket cup has a shallow dent off to one side (see photo) – we didn’t attempt to see if it could be pushed out from the inside, but it probably can. There is a small amount of discoloration / tarnishing on the metal cups (see photos). The electrical wiring appears to be original to the fixture, and it is in good shape – no frays, splits, exposed wires, etc. As with all vintage lighting, we’d strongly recommend having a licensed professional inspect it prior to long-term use. In its current state, it is in fully-functioning, working condition. If you have any questions, we encourage them and will respond back to you in a timely manner. Vintage 1950s Mid Century Quilted Pink Starburst Bathroom Waste Basket Trash Can MCM. Here is another great find from an estate sale I went to the other day. For those of us with mid century homes and still have the original pink bathroom, this waste basket is the perfect accent and is period correct and looks perfect as decor and function. This wonderful MCM piece has a gold starburst in the center of the can with gold trim on the top and bottom. It is 13″ tall x 10″ wide x 7 deep. In good vintage condition, minor wear. I didn’t clean it. I did wipe it down with a damp paper towel. So you will need to clean it better than I did. Boxes depending on size by request only. 1950’s Mid Century Moving Atomic Squares Kaleidoscope Barkcloth Vintage Fabric
This offering is for ONE barkcloth remnant… A striking design I call Moving Squares… Like that of a perspective through the trippy lens of a kaleidoscope… Tons of movement in the shapes… Creating this wonderful mid century allure that was sweeping america in the 40’s and 50’s… A creamy dove gray ground… Electric lime that really gives it a zing… With black and white accents…. Measures 23 inches wide x 30 inches long… Unused and unwashed and in amazingly new condition. But who wants to take a return right? 1950’s Iconic Atomic Boomerang Miami Beach Mid Century Barkcloth Vintage Fabric
I always felt that as I walked through Miami Beach hotels in the late 80’s… That they spoke of generations and decades of trends… Hotels often closed and boarded up with all the furnishings still inside… Right beside headboards and upholstered chairs in completely contemporary atomic boomerang prints from the 50’s… And together they looked like a marriage made in heaven… But it was unintentional… Quite possibly because of frugality of the times… I did them inspired by what I saw in the old hotels… The front side of a pillow often a crazy wonderful flamboyant 30’s tropical… And the back side a mid century modern 50’s atomic boomerang… The 50’s brought such a innovative spirit to South Beach… Infused with the streamline modern ideas of of the Art Deco era… The architecture of waves in the stucco on the hotel fronts… Synonymous with South Beach’s Art Deco renaissance… And at the very least have become part of the story I’ve relayed from the images held captive in my mind.. A premier mid century atomic boomerang barkcloth fabric… All the colors of Miami Beach from the 50’s… For me I liken it to the old wooden cabanas that were always painted the best pastel colors that are exactly what people have come to expect from Miami Beach… This wonderful highly textured document is the heaviest of the textured cotton barkcloths… Preserved and stored for the last 65+ years since it first made its debut… Released at a time in america when people were excited about the progress the country was making… The space program and scientific discovery… Creating a movement of mid century modernism that was sweeping the minds and hearts of americans… A movement and revolution of minds that even today has taken hold… Crossing all generational gaps… Inspiring the young contemporaries… The kindred spirits with an appreciation for the hand crafted treasures of their lineage… Miami Beach cabana colors… A very fabulous turquoise blue green… The color they used to paint the inside of the pools to give that uber caribbean edge… Minty blue green hombre… Metallic liquid gold which is fantastic as a representation of the materials used that were influenced by modern technology… With black accents on a marvelous clean white ground… If you are a Floridian or a vintage Floridian at heart… Or a tropical modernist… Or somewhere in between… Then I highly recommend this grand spectacle… Measures 24 inches wide x 26 inches long. Vintage 2 Mid Century Atomic Cone Gold Sconce Ball Joint Adjustable Wall Lights
Removed from a mid century bar area that was being taken down. The home was a time capsule full of beautiful mcm lighting. Although it couldn’t be preserved, I managed to acquire a few things of beauty to be loved and appreciated by someone else. Late 1950’s early 1960’s. These lights need to be hard wired. Both were working before being removed. They hung over and illuminated a painting. Each cone has a ball joint which enables them to be adjusted to the spot you want them to shine onto. Great hall lights, bathroom or just about anywhere your imagination can create. There are design cut outs all along the bottom edges. Measurements are also in the photographs. Thank you for looking.

Charming period mailbox with newspaper rack. I use mine inside for stamps and bills! This one has been painted red. It is in very good shape. See pictures for overall condition. The end of one piece of the star is cracked and will need to be secured.
