If you are going to put faux plants inside it, you won’t even know the difference. The lamp could use a general cleaning. The metal components appear to be free from dents, dings, repairs, etc. The fiberglass shades are in very nice shape – they are free from rips, holes, tears, burn marks, etc. There are some light marks on the fiberglass material that are consistent with age, and they should come out with a gentle cleaning. Atomic age planters are all the rage. This is as true today as it was 70 years ago when the art and architectural movement redefined the simple planter into a piece of art! In the late forties. The California School of Art had a contest for modern garden pottery. It happened to be covered by Arts & Architecture magazine. This set off a chain reaction in the interior decoration world. And modern planters became a new fashion trend! Besides the pottery of designers like Lagardo Tackett and the. Fiberglass planters of companies like Kimball, the “space age metal”. The aluminum industry – realized they were a perfect choice to. Manufacture modern planters as well! This sheath shaped design is the epitome of space age styling! Always thinking about versatility (and maximum savings) this. Design could serve as an ash receptacle as well as a planter. The top silver aluminum ash receiver is removable. Opening up the entire top cone to be used as a planter! Back in the fifties one might see one of these serving as an. Ash stand and another next to it as a planter – perhaps by. An elevator or in a waiting area. The aluminum is a miracle. Metal which defies aging, resists wear and is light and movable! This planter was designed for style-conscious, mid century. Almost all of these. Were long ago destroyed. This one escaped and is offered here. A coveted remainder of the atomic age! Planter is in very fine condition! Minor age wear to enamel and aluminum. Removable tray permits stand to be used as a planter. Or as an ash receptacle. This planter is epic and will look superb in your NY penthouse. CA case study home or Palms Springs atomic ranch!
