Vintage 1950s 1960s Abstract Sculptural Atomic Fish Wood Lamp Mid Century Modern
Item: For your consideration we are presenting for sale a super cool vintage sculptural carved wood atomic fish lamp. Circa’50s /’60s. The lamp features three (3) stacked wooden fish that are attached to the central vertical metal column. We are uncertain as to the maker – no tags or labels are readily visible. There is felt on the underside of the base – there may be something underneath – we didn’t attempt to remove it to check. There is no shade present – that’ll be left up to the purchaser to provide on their own. The lamp stands approx. 27 tall (measured from the bottom of the base to the top of the light socket). The three wooden fish are all roughly the same size – approx. 5.5″ wide (measured from the front of the head to the tail) x 5.5″ tall x 1 thick. The round wooden base at the bottom measures approx. Condition: The lamp is in very good, all original vintage condition – there are no chips, cracks, breaks, repairs, etc. There is some very mild surface wear, but nothing objectionable. We have not attempted to clean / polish the lamp in any way – it is being presented for sale in the condition in which it was acquired. In our opinion, it displays very well in its current state. The round metal disc that sits directly atop the round wooden base shows some signs of mild tarnishing (see photo) – again, nothing objectionable, and does not take away from the display of the lamp. The electrical wiring appears to be original to the lamp, and is in fine shape – there are no frays, splits, or exposed wires. The lamp is in fully-functioning, working order. We’re pretty sure these were made by Modeline, as the designs are the same and you can see where the original labels would have been on the sockets. The electrical and cords are in very good working condition, the lamps and shades are excellent for their age. One lamp and shade is lighter in tone than the other, this being due to it being in more sun. Please refer to the photos for details of these areas, but overall, these are gorgeous lamps!
