Item: For your consideration we are presenting for sale a fun vintage table lamp that was manufactured by Robert’s Ceramics (Brooklyn, NY). Circa’50s /’60s. The lamp is constructed of a ceramic orb that rests atop a black metal wire cage. The ceramic orb has a celestial / atomic theme – with stars and planets hand-painted in black against a white background. The lamp has a round brass base at the very bottom. There is a standard on/off toggle switch that is located at the socket which is used to control the lamp. It’ll make a great addition to any mid century modern / atomic-themed setting! The lamp stands approx. 22 tall (measured from the bottom of round brass base to the top of the finial). The distance to the light socket is approx. The round ceramic orb is approx. The round brass base at the very bottom of the lamp is approx. 5.25 in diameter. Condition: The lamp is in decent condition with some minor cosmetic stuff which we’ll mention below. The black paint on the wire in missing in scattered spots throughout, and could benefit from a simple touch-up of paint in those areas. The round brass base at the very bottom shows signs of light tarnishing / discoloration in spots. We have not done anything in an attempt to clean-up or polish this area (see photos). The ceramic orb shows signs of light crazing which is consistent with age – no chips, cracks, breaks. The lamp is free from dents, dings, breaks, repairs, etc. The electrical wiring appears to be original to the lamp, and it is in good shape. We would still strongly recommend having a licensed professional inspect the wiring prior to long-term use as the lamp is vintage, just to be safe. The lamp is in fully-functioning, working condition in its current state. Please ask them and we will respond back to you in a timely manner. This large lamp is a brilliant example of space age atomic design. It features a wide, bowl shaped wooden base, brushed aluminum teardrop body, and wooden Sputnik shaped neck. It is Danish by design and in the style of Johannes Hammerborg. Similar lamps of this iconic style, and large size are rare and difficult to find in great condition. It has the original wiring, and turns on and off with a twisting switch near the bulb. It is in good working condition, with light wear. There is a shallow scratch in the wood around the top of the base bowl. As shown in the photo, it’s a small blemish, and only noticeable from a very close distance. It would make a beautiful statement piece in any room. Decorate with light, and put a new modern color changing bulb inside to create ambiance. With shade – Almost 42″ tall and a 18.5″ diameter. Without shade – 35.5″ tall and nearly 13″ diameter at widest point. Shade alone – 18.5″ diameter at bottom, 16.5″ diameter at top, 19 tall. Vintage 1974 LAUREL model V-913 three way Space Age Chrome cylinder Mushroom Lamp in working condition. The lamp has some small dents to shade that could be popped out with a tiny suction cup or other method, and chrome could use a proper polish, the bottom of base could use some new felt as well. Otherwise, in very good Vintage condition overall, and with a small amount of love this will be a spectacular Mod Laurel table lamp. The 1974 Laurel Catalog is not mine, and used for reference only.
