XL 1960s / 70s Geometric Op Art Space Age Fabric Mod Retro Textile Wall Hanging
Iconic designs produced by talented designers during the Mid Century period featured bold colours and geometric shapes that were so evocative of the era. This striking textile panel features original vintage fabric designed by Margit Steiner in the 1960s / 1970s and has a real Atomic, Space Age feel about it. I have shown the panel hung in two ways as it gives a different effect depending which way you hang it. The panel has been made with original vintage Mid Century fabric stretched over a new wooden frame. The fabric is in good vintage condition, however, being over 50 years old it does have a few imperfections. The colours throughout are still deep, bold and bright. There is slight discolouration to some areas and pin hole size white specs in the fabric visible up close. The selvage containing the designer and pattern names has been left visible along one edge (please see pictures). The wall hanging is hand made, and measures approximately 90cm x 95cm. Vintage MCM 50s 60s Boomerang Fabric Textile Material Mid Century Modern Atomic
Item: For your consideration we are presenting for sale a nice long panel of vintage fabric. Circa’50s /’60s. The shapes overlap with each other – they are black, burgundy and yellow over an oatmeal colored background. We are not exactly sure of the type of material – it doesn’t appear to be synthetic, and we’d say its a medium-to-heavy weight material. We do not know the maker – it doesn’t appear to be marked in the selvedge as far as we can see. There’s a lot of material here – it would be ample enough for two nice sized curtains or suitable for whatever your crafting needs may be. 154″ long (4.27 yards) x 46″ wide. Condition: Very good vintage condition – there are no rips, holes, tears, stains, odors, etc. The colors are nice and bold throughout. It does have crease marks from being stored away for a number of years in a storage fin. The material is raw on both the upper and lower edge from being cut from the original bolt (see photos), and one of the burgundy boomerang shapes at the very end of the material has some color loss in it (again, see photos – this is at the end of the material, so it can easily be cut out). Vintage Mid Century Modern 70s Retro Fabric Atomic Starburst Groovy Textile Sheer Lot of 2 Sheets. Beautiful True Vintage VTG Retro Mid Century MCM Fabric Sample Scrap with Large Print Brown Starburst Circle Details. Because this is a sample / scrap, there are grommet holes at the top of the fabric. There may also be snags, small marks / stains (have done my best to picture everything), fraying on the edges, and general wear / fading / yellowing due to age. The fabric has been sewn before, so there is a seam sewn in the center of the 88″ x 75″ piece of fabric. The 142″ x 47″ piece of fabric has been cut and has a lot of fraying. There is also a slight musty smell from storage and age, which I have not tried to reduce. The fabric has also been folded, so has creases from this. The measurements are 88″ x 75″ and 142″ x 47″ (two separate pieces of fabric) but please note that the useable amount of fabric will be less due to the border and the grommet holes as this is a sample. Color: Earth tones – Brown, Yellow, Beige / White. Though I have tried to picture the fabric in different lighting, the lighting may alter the actual color of the fabric. These samples are perfect for sewing, crafting, curtains, upholstery, do it yourself home decor projects, or even clothing such as tops, skirts, scarves, purses, bags, or pants. This is one continuous piece of unusual material that is still on the bolt (see photos). The material feels like it is of a medium weight. It does not appear to have any stretch to it, but we’re not 100% certain as to type of material it – probably a cotton blend. There’s plenty of material here for several small crafting projects – perhaps curtains or pillows. 7 yards long x 44 wide. CONDITION : The fabric is new old stock.
