Vintage Atomic Age SPUTNIK WEATHER STATION Barometer BGM West Germany MCM 1950’s. Excellent Mid-century Modern Sputnik style weather station made by B. Of West Germany in the late 1950’s. This stylish scientific instrument contains a thermometer, hygrometer and barometer inside a clear tinted plexiglass globe with brass spikes and a radar dish resembling a Sputnik satellite. It stands on a removable brass base on which it rotates freely. The barometer band is marked “Made in Western Germany”, and the bottom of the brass base is marked B. The underside of the base has a wall mount for hanging onto a wall if desired. This weather station stands 8″ tall by 6″ in diameter, and weighs 1.25 lbs. It’s in great working condition with no cracks or breaks. A fascinating instrument for your home, office or Mid-century Modern collection. 10/10 – Perfect working order, the German quality of this instrument is excellent. 8.5/10 – This item is used, with signs of gentle use. There is some tarnish that can be polished off if desired, otherwise excellent condition.
