Vintage 50s Black Metal Saucer Retractable Ceiling Light Lamp Mid Century Atomic
Item: For your consideration we are presenting for sale a rare and simply amazing vintage retractable ceiling light / lamp fixture manufactured by Star Lite. The round metal shade is saucer / ufo-like in appearance, and it is black in color. The top surface has randomly scattered pierced holes in two different sizes (see photos). When light shines through them, it creates a nice effect. The fixture has a retractable cord that is contained within the brass metal egg-shaped cup that is located just above the metal shade. Below the metal shade is another frosted glass shade, and a round ring pull down mechanism which is used to raise and lower the height of the fixture. The fixture takes two standard sized lightbulbs. The on/off rotary knob switch is located central to the metal ring (see photos). The fixture still retains its original “Star Lite” yellow label on the inside of the round ceiling canopy (see photo). This fixture is such a nice size as well. It’ll make a great addition to any mid century modern or atomic-themed setting! The round metal shade measures approx. The round glass shade that rests beneath it measures approx. 12.75 in diameter. The brass cup that contains the retractable cord measures approx. 5.5″ tall x 3.75″ wide x 3.75 deep. With the retractable cord inside the brass cup, the fixture has a drop hang of approx. Condition: This fixture is in very good condition – there are no dents, dings, scratches, repairs, rust, oxidation, etc. The retractable mechanism is also in working condition with no problems to report. The fixture is in working order – just needs to be hardwired by an electrician into a ceiling. We did not take photos of it before it was removed from its last location, but we can assure you it works without there being any issues. As with all vintage lighting, we always strongly recommend having the wiring checked by a licensed professional prior to long-term use.
