Retro Boomerang 1950 Amoeba GALAXIES Mid Century Atomic Barkcloth Vintage Fabric
This offering is for ONE YARD x 49 inches wide of unused unwashed original old stock yardage. Miami Beach style is alive and well in this iconic pattern and colorway… It’s as if this fabric were designed for the Miami Beach architecture of the hotels during the mid century… A style and vibe influenced heavily by shapes and color that together sing in unison a song that is like no other…. Meant to tug heart strings and open minds in a way that allowed the love of mid century modernism to sink in as it was sweeping the nation… This fabric is from the early 50’s to 1957… A handsome medium gray ground… Darkest teal turquoise emerald green… Darkest nearly black chocolate bordering eggplant… Yes it truly is… A nice thick nubby barkcloth… One for the serious modernist collector… This ones a good investment for any designer of mid century or collector of unusual atomic textile archives. Or MiMo as the regional style of architecture developed in South Florida during the post-war period… Because MiMo styling was not just a response to the international architectural movements but also to client demands… And material excess were added to the otherwise stark… And efficient styles of the era… The term MiMo has more recently been associated with the style… Most popular ideas of MiMo are the Fountainbleau Hotel… Di Lido hotels by famed architect Morris Lapidus… Miami developed the style through the work of younger architects immediately after the war… They were more closely aligned with the media promotions and sensationalism than older architects of the era… The region successfully transposed its extravagant resort styling to a national audience easily captivated by the areas relative exoticism..
