There were fabulous textiles and then there were first rate unadulterated patterns that were catapulted above the rest… These atomic prints being at the top of the chain of most revered and well sought after… This offering is for O. NE YARD x 48 inches wide of unused unwashed fantastical rare and incredible textured barkcloth… A pattern and colorway right out of Miami’s South Beach circa 1952. A patternry of atomic mid century embodying a quilted mod shapely fabric that is well above the rest. A white ground with flamingo pink… Pastel jadeite and aqua blue greens… With gold metallic and black accents. Signed “A Spectrum Original Seal of Quality Fast Color Print”… Which is a very different signature than the Spectrum signatures of the egrets and butterfly prints from the 30’s and early 40’s… This signature more modern and edgy… If you treasure the best of the best and can’t search the world through and through… But who wants to take a return right? This offering is for ONE unused unwashed… Strikingly fun and crazy rare and fabulous patternry from the early 1950’s… 1952 to be exact… A pattern that doesn’t come around often and in a colorway with the complete embodiment of mid century Miami Beach… Tropical spirited colors of boomerang amoebas showcasing the allure of South Beach and exactly what you would see in a hotel in the mid century… Often times these 1950’s mixed in as pillows with existing Art Deco draperies from the 20’s and 30’s. A way to elevate and embellish spaces without the outrageous expense. 30s Egret meets Fifties Atomic Mid Century Barkcloth Pillow Cover Vintage Fabric
Florida Bungalow was one of the first innovators to create huge quality dramatic and flamboyant pillows for 30 something years. I have a unusual creative eye that conjures up unique and precious pieces of vintage art by todays standards. So let us transport you back to a time and place far from today in a world of everlasting nostalgia and whimsy. Contact me if you’d like it stuffed! I make all kinds of pillows… But some of my favorite designs are the ones like this that are created right from my memory bank from the 80’s and seeing the toppled over mess of hotel rooms in boarded up hotels. An eclectic mix of barkcloth patterns through the decades… The Art Deco egrets and the 50’s atomic mixed together in a cheap renovation… Which is what was left inside these time capsules. A used a unused textured nubby barkcloth rustic orange patterned egret on swirl pattern from the 1930’s on one side and a dark teal 1950’s atomic geometric on the other. So if you have design mood swings you can always turn it around. I used a patchwork of sustainable scraps for piping so you literally getting a bunch of patterns mixed into one art piece. It measures 22 ” x 21″ in size and has a hidden zipper for easy insert of a pillow form, which is not included. If you would like one, please contact me. I have an unusual creative eye that conjures up unique and precious pieces of vintage art by today’s standards. So let us transport you back to a time and place far from today in a world of everlasting nostalgia and whimsy. You can imagine the honor any textile company would have to have Dali as a collaborating onboard artist to create patterned artful cottons in designs of historic Dali proportions. This iconic unused nubby textured barkcloth is called “Dancing Leaves” and was signed on the selvedge. A gorgeous creamy pool turquoise blue ground Wirth varied chocolate… With ink black and white accents and the extraordinary iconicy of gold metallic and what that meant for designs of the mid century through the use of innovation and flat out fabulous weirdness! Paired with a double piping in black and flamingo pink… And a backside in a luxe dreamy 50’s pink velvet. It measures 22 ” x 18″ in size and has a hidden zipper for easy insert of a pillow form. Retro Boomerang 1950 Amoeba GALAXIES Mid Century Atomic Barkcloth Vintage Fabric
This offering is for ONE YARD x 49 inches wide of unused unwashed original old stock yardage. Miami Beach style is alive and well in this iconic pattern and colorway… It’s as if this fabric were designed for the Miami Beach architecture of the hotels during the mid century… A style and vibe influenced heavily by shapes and color that together sing in unison a song that is like no other…. Meant to tug heart strings and open minds in a way that allowed the love of mid century modernism to sink in as it was sweeping the nation… This fabric is from the early 50’s to 1957… A handsome medium gray ground… Darkest teal turquoise emerald green… Darkest nearly black chocolate bordering eggplant… Yes it truly is… A nice thick nubby barkcloth… One for the serious modernist collector… This ones a good investment for any designer of mid century or collector of unusual atomic textile archives. Or MiMo as the regional style of architecture developed in South Florida during the post-war period… Because MiMo styling was not just a response to the international architectural movements but also to client demands… And material excess were added to the otherwise stark… And efficient styles of the era… The term MiMo has more recently been associated with the style… Most popular ideas of MiMo are the Fountainbleau Hotel… Di Lido hotels by famed architect Morris Lapidus… Miami developed the style through the work of younger architects immediately after the war… They were more closely aligned with the media promotions and sensationalism than older architects of the era… The region successfully transposed its extravagant resort styling to a national audience easily captivated by the areas relative exoticism.. Mid Century Modern Pastel Birds Birdcage Abstract MOD Curtain Fabric Barkcloth. Measurements: This is one long curtain/piece of fabric 87″ x 31.5″. Condition: in good condition. There is some discoloring/fading. You can see the fading the most in the last few photos. The strip shown is from the fabric that faces the window side and was exposed to sun. There is light fading on the inside side, mainly around the edges where the fabric was exposed to the sun. Please review all photos as they are the best indicator of condition.

Atomic on Minty Green Mid Century Miami Lifeguard Stand Barkcloth Vintage Fabric
Floating objects is something very intriguing… The ideology of creating art in a way that showcased lots of sparce space with objects seemingly floating in thin air. It was a movement… Yet it has a cult like following… And with any cult like following it has its detractors… Who were the traditionalists of the period… Those who fought the bizarre nature of surrealist conceptual art… For more traditional styles and quite literally divided people simply over how they decorated their homes. It was the 1950’s after all… When society was strict and non conformity was just beginning to emerge. This offering is for ONE unused unwashed remnant of premier mid century yardage. A very rare example of mid century kineticism… The idea of free floating objects… Brought about by the advancement of science and space exploration… Gravity and the concept of combining art and technology… And the imagery reminds me of a Miami Beach lifeguard stand as shown in photos!! Measures 35 inches wide x 40 inches long with a tiny corner cut off… Maybe less than an inch. Miami has the worlds most fun and beautiful lifeguard stands. Using color and pattern… A color circus of pops that help make this art seemingly jump from the fabric… A ground of industrial bold aqua minty celadon green… Shapes in colors of blood orange meets tangerine… Fabulous chartreuse citron with black and white accents. 50’s Mid Century Floral Atomic Barkcloth Vintage Fabric 8 + Yds 44W Coral Tan
Great find of 8+ yards of vintage Mid Century 100% cotton Barkcloth fabric featuring blooming florals, perhaps rambling roses, in coral and peach tones, with lovely bright green leaves against a background of Mid-Century geometric patterns including a round garden screen and contrasting rectangles with lines of brown, tan, and taupe. Amazing 8 5/6 yards or 318″ long (just 6″ shy of 9yds) and 43.5 wide. Crisp Barkcloth with amazing MCM floral and geometric design! This medium weight fabric would make amazing curtains and cushions for a vintage camper or travel trailer, also great design for throw pillows and cushions, perhaps upholstery for a favorite chair or add some charm to a Hollywood daybed! Fabric floral design can orient in any direction with the largest floral measuring approximately 12″ x 12″. PLS READ: 90% very good condition, freshly laundered vintage yardage. Please note there is some occasional discoloration seen along the center fold line and along the salvage edges, shown in detail photos, Fabric was found on it’s original store cardboard holder in a basement. The first 30 of fabric shows some more age along the very bottom edge, shown in detail photo. I did NOT try any Oxi Clean or other stain removal, only laundered the yardage.
