WOW! Vintage 50s Chalkware Lamp Fiberglass Shade Mid Century Modern Atomic Era
Item: For your consideration we are presenting for sale an incredibly cool vintage chalkware table lamp complete with its original double-tier fiberglass shade and atomic finial. The base is constructed of chalkware, and is curvy like a snake. The front and back surfaces are textured in beige and gold, while the remainder of the chalkware body is turquoise in color, with the exception of the base, which is black. The double-tier fiberglass shade is beige on the larger tier, and turquoise with black and gold accents on the smaller upper tier. The finial is brass and is atomic in design. The lamp has a standard on/off rotary switch located at the socket which is used to turn the lamp on/off. We are uncertain as to the maker. It’s a definite statement piece that’ll make a splash in any mid century modern interior setting! With the double-tier fiberglass shade attached, the lamp stands approx. 35.25 tall (measured from the bottom of the base to the top of the atomic finial). The distance from the bottom of the base to the light socket is approx. The chalkware portion of the lamp measures approx. 21.5″ tall x 10″ wide (measured at the bottom of the base) x 5.25 deep. The double-tier fiberglass shade measures approx. 8″ tall x 18″ in diameter (measured across the top tier) x 20 in diameter (measured across the bottom tier). Condition: Given it’s age, we’d say the lamp is in very good condition with only minor cosmetic wear… There are no major chips, cracks, breaks, repairs, etc. The black portion of the base at the bottom shows a few edge paint flecks. Also, the top surface looks like the black coloration is worn on both sides – a fresh application of black paint will remedy that, or it can just be left alone – we chose to leave it in the condition in which it was acquired. The fiberglass shade is also in great shape – no rips, holes, tears, burn marks, repairs, etc. The lacing looks to be original to the shade, and it is intact. The electrical wiring looks as though it was probably replaced at one point in time – it’s in very good shape – there are no frays, splits, exposed or brittle wires, etc. As with all vintage lighting, we always recommend having the wiring checked by a licensed professional prior to long-term use. Pair MID CENTURY MODERN Atomic Chalkware Plaster Pottery F. A. I. P. Lamps
A nice vintage pair of Mid Century Modern Lamps made by FAIP, stamped on back of each one. Three sides have bold black and white Egyptian type Hieroglyphic designs. These are in the style of Fredrick Weinberg. They are in overall very nice condition, but could use some cleaning. They do work, but with age, I would suggest updating the wiring. The harps and finials are included. The harps show age, but could be spray painted or replaced. The finials are original plastic. A piece of felt is covering the bottoms of the lamps. These lamps are heavy, and have a great mid century look! Each lamp base is 16 1/2″ high x 6″ x 4. They will be packed securely for safe arrival to your door! Atomic mid century chalkware lamp fiberglass shade Majestic Capri DuBarry Plasto
Wonderful biomorphic design from the 1950’s! There is a mark on the base, but I can’t make it out. Lamp and switch works. It is about 25 tall and wide, with the shades on. The shades are held in place by clipping onto the bulbs and hanging. Lacing on the shades was disintegrating, so I replaced it with NOS lacing. The finish is original, but has flaked off as shown. Tall Pair Mid Century Modern Atomic Chalkware Plaster Pottery Lamps F A I P FAIP
Pair of Mid Century Modern Atomic Chalk Ware Lamps. 1950’s tall architectural hour-glass form lamps with brass spikes. Textured chalkware lamps are incised with Egyptian Hieroglyphics. C1950’s in the style of Frederick Weinberg. Each weighs approximately 7.5 lbs. Signed: FAIP impressed stamp on the backs. Shades are not included. Both in good working order. Each with 3 way sockets and inline on/off switches, older wiring is different on each. As always, vintage wiring should be checked or upgraded to today’s standards. Condition : Good vintage condition, a missing brass spike to the back of one lamp, a small perforation on the side of one (photo #9). Patina to the brass bases, more so to one (see lamp on left in photos). Please examine all photos. Measurements : Overall Height 34. 25.5″ to the top of sockets and 6 1/2″ base diameter.
