XL 1960s / 70s Geometric Op Art Space Age Fabric Mod Retro Textile Wall Hanging
Iconic designs produced by talented designers during the Mid Century period featured bold colours and geometric shapes that were so evocative of the era. This striking textile panel features original vintage fabric designed by Margit Steiner in the 1960s / 1970s and has a real Atomic, Space Age feel about it. I have shown the panel hung in two ways as it gives a different effect depending which way you hang it. The panel has been made with original vintage Mid Century fabric stretched over a new wooden frame. The fabric is in good vintage condition, however, being over 50 years old it does have a few imperfections. The colours throughout are still deep, bold and bright. There is slight discolouration to some areas and pin hole size white specs in the fabric visible up close. The selvage containing the designer and pattern names has been left visible along one edge (please see pictures). The wall hanging is hand made, and measures approximately 90cm x 95cm. My textile samples are a great way to create your own art from your own design perspective… Whether using just one vintage print for a pillow front or creating a truly reversible pillow with two completely different vibes… Of course these prints are terrific for art framing or small upholstery projects… They may be small… But so are diamonds! This offering is for ONE unused unwashed… Original salesman sample of premium barkcloth… These salesman samples were used hung in fabric store departments and were carried by door to door salesman in the 1950’s. This relic has a story and history all its own… All one needs to do is study it and listen to the story. You can see it in everything it is… Something bar stools would have been made of for Don Ho shows in Honolulu! A mottled ground in darkest chocolate… With white accents and this flagrant bold chartreuse. The edges are serged as customary with salesman samples. Measures 23 inches wide x 27 inches long. Brand new authentic old stock barkcloth here to pay you a visit. Framing as art and curating for reprint. But who wants to take a return right? Vintage MCM 50s 60s Boomerang Fabric Textile Material Mid Century Modern Atomic
Item: For your consideration we are presenting for sale a nice long panel of vintage fabric. Circa’50s /’60s. The shapes overlap with each other – they are black, burgundy and yellow over an oatmeal colored background. We are not exactly sure of the type of material – it doesn’t appear to be synthetic, and we’d say its a medium-to-heavy weight material. We do not know the maker – it doesn’t appear to be marked in the selvedge as far as we can see. There’s a lot of material here – it would be ample enough for two nice sized curtains or suitable for whatever your crafting needs may be. 154″ long (4.27 yards) x 46″ wide. Condition: Very good vintage condition – there are no rips, holes, tears, stains, odors, etc. The colors are nice and bold throughout. It does have crease marks from being stored away for a number of years in a storage fin. The material is raw on both the upper and lower edge from being cut from the original bolt (see photos), and one of the burgundy boomerang shapes at the very end of the material has some color loss in it (again, see photos – this is at the end of the material, so it can easily be cut out). Atomic on Minty Green Mid Century Miami Lifeguard Stand Barkcloth Vintage Fabric
Floating objects is something very intriguing… The ideology of creating art in a way that showcased lots of sparce space with objects seemingly floating in thin air. It was a movement… Yet it has a cult like following… And with any cult like following it has its detractors… Who were the traditionalists of the period… Those who fought the bizarre nature of surrealist conceptual art… For more traditional styles and quite literally divided people simply over how they decorated their homes. It was the 1950’s after all… When society was strict and non conformity was just beginning to emerge. This offering is for ONE unused unwashed remnant of premier mid century yardage. A very rare example of mid century kineticism… The idea of free floating objects… Brought about by the advancement of science and space exploration… Gravity and the concept of combining art and technology… And the imagery reminds me of a Miami Beach lifeguard stand as shown in photos!! Measures 35 inches wide x 40 inches long with a tiny corner cut off… Maybe less than an inch. Miami has the worlds most fun and beautiful lifeguard stands. Using color and pattern… A color circus of pops that help make this art seemingly jump from the fabric… A ground of industrial bold aqua minty celadon green… Shapes in colors of blood orange meets tangerine… Fabulous chartreuse citron with black and white accents. 50’s Mid Century Floral Atomic Barkcloth Vintage Fabric 8 + Yds 44W Coral Tan
Great find of 8+ yards of vintage Mid Century 100% cotton Barkcloth fabric featuring blooming florals, perhaps rambling roses, in coral and peach tones, with lovely bright green leaves against a background of Mid-Century geometric patterns including a round garden screen and contrasting rectangles with lines of brown, tan, and taupe. Amazing 8 5/6 yards or 318″ long (just 6″ shy of 9yds) and 43.5 wide. Crisp Barkcloth with amazing MCM floral and geometric design! This medium weight fabric would make amazing curtains and cushions for a vintage camper or travel trailer, also great design for throw pillows and cushions, perhaps upholstery for a favorite chair or add some charm to a Hollywood daybed! Fabric floral design can orient in any direction with the largest floral measuring approximately 12″ x 12″. PLS READ: 90% very good condition, freshly laundered vintage yardage. Please note there is some occasional discoloration seen along the center fold line and along the salvage edges, shown in detail photos, Fabric was found on it’s original store cardboard holder in a basement. The first 30 of fabric shows some more age along the very bottom edge, shown in detail photo. I did NOT try any Oxi Clean or other stain removal, only laundered the yardage. Outrageous 50s Mid Century Spectrum Atomic Miami Beach Barkcloth Vintage Fabric
There were fabulous textiles and then there were first rate unadulterated patterns that were catapulted above the rest… These atomic prints being at the top of the chain of most revered and well sought after… This offering is for O. NE YARD x 48 inches wide of unused unwashed fantastical rare and incredible textured barkcloth… A pattern and colorway right out of Miami’s South Beach circa 1952. A patternry of atomic mid century embodying a quilted mod shapely fabric that is well above the rest. A white ground with flamingo pink… Pastel jadeite and aqua blue greens… With gold metallic and black accents. Signed “A Spectrum Original Seal of Quality Fast Color Print”… Which is a very different signature than the Spectrum signatures of the egrets and butterfly prints from the 30’s and early 40’s… This signature more modern and edgy… If you treasure the best of the best and can’t search the world through and through… But who wants to take a return right?
