Vintage 50s Metal Brass Boomerang Lamp Mid Century Modern Lighting Majestic Era
Item: For your consideration we are presenting for sale a stunning vintage table lamp that dates back to the atomic era. It features three cast metal boomerang accent shapes that are each intersected by a cylindrical brass rod. Each boomerang shape is staggered at slightly different heights. They are black and have beige paint splatter design throughout. The on/off switch is located by the brass cup that surrounds the light socket. Not sure of the maker – there are no labels or tags present. Measurements: The lamp stands approx. 29.25″ tall (from the bottom of the base to the top of the milk glass diffuser shade) x 25″ tall from the bottom of the base to the top of the brass cup surrounding the socket. The upper-most boomerang shape adornment measures approx. The middle boomerang shape measures approx. 6.25 wide, and the bottom-most boomerang shape measures approx. The rounded brass base measures approx. Condition: All in all, the lamp is in very good condition given its age – there are no breaks, cracks, dents, dings, repairs, etc. There is a tiny bit of paint missing on the boomerang accent pieces, mainly along the edges (see photos). We left it alone when we acquired the lamp; however, it’d be really simple and inexpensive to touch up, if desired. We will leave that up to the purchaser to decide. The brass base, rods, and brass cup around the socket are free from dents, dings, repairs, etc. There is some tarnishing to the brass in spots (see photos), and general surface wear from age. It could maybe use a gentle polishing, if desired. We think it displays very well as it is! The wiring is free from frays, splits, exposed wires, etc. And is original to the lamp. The lamp is in fully functioning, working condition. As with all vintage lighting, we’d recommend having a licensed professional have a look at it prior to long-term use. This is one of the most iconic 1950s/1960s Atomic Age, Sputnik lamps. Fabulous styling to the shade with a diamond shapes exterior and tripod cigar shaped wooden legs. Metal bases and trim with 4 round sized glass globes making up the length of the pieces along with atomic sputnik spokes! A bit of age appropriate scratching/discoloration/tarnish on the metal but still in very good condition and they work great! It looks like one switch housing has been replaced as they are 2 different colors. The felt on the bottom is missing from 1 lamp and half off on the other. Vintage Double Gooseneck Metal Adjustable Lamp Mid Century Modern 1950s Atomic
Item: For your consideration we are presenting for sale a vintage atomic era adjustable double gooseneck lamp. Circa’50s /’60s. The shades are pierced metal, and they’re conical in shape. Attached to the upper side of each shade is a wooden accent piece (see photos). The on/off rotary knob switch is located on the round metal base at the bottom, and it provides for three different settings: each shade can be lit individually, or a third twist can light them both up at the same time. Unbranded insofar as we’ve been able to detect. With the shades pointed outward at a 90 degree angle to the flexible gooseneck stems, the lamp stands approx. Including the wooden accent pieces at the top of each shade, each measures approx. 8.75″ long x 4-3/8″ in diameter. The round metal base at the bottom measures approx. 5.25 in diameter. Condition: Overall, the lamp is in good condition for its age. It does have some minor cosmetic stuff worth mentioning, most notably a previous owner appears to have drilled two small unevenly spaced holes into the base (see photos). We’re not certain if this was done to try to modify the lamp to hang on a wall or what the case may be, but that’s our guess. They don’t particularly detract, but they are there. Not sure, but perhaps they can be filled in somehow. Otherwise, the lamp just shows signs of general light wear from age and use. The shades show some minor tarnishing in spots, but barely anything. There are no dents, dings, repairs, etc. The lamp is in fully-functioning, working order.
